LONGEST GALLERY OF SAND ART ENGRAVED FOR A NOBLE DEMOCRATIC CAUSE

K. VEERA RAGHAVA RAO, I.A.S, DISTRICT COLLECTOR & DISTRICT ELECTION OFFICER of Ramanathapuram, Tamilnadu, India. He took tremendous efforts in carving the voting eminency inside the minds of each and every voter. He marvelously selected the sand art engravings to sow the seeds of democratic awareness among the voters. In Ramanathapuram 51 sand arts were engraved with the dimensions of 10-15 fts width and 10mts in length, had been created In the memorial of our former President of India, Dr. A. P..J Abdul Kalam to Rameswaram covering a distance of 1 km as a part of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities to sensitise the voters about the importance of casting their votes, to make them aware that the button press on the day of election will decide the development of their economical and social well being for the net five years etc. Every sand art engraving has voters awareness inscription on it viz., No Note for Vote,Not Voter To Be Left Behind, Youth Vote, PwD voter, Accessible Elections, Senior citizen, 1950 cVIGIL, VVPAT etc. The District Election Officer & District Collector has done a brilliant job for creating voters awareness with the creation of beautiful sand art engravings, which became an instant attraction for the public passing through this stretch. His innovative idea deserves high appreciation and it finds a place in “High Range Book of World Records”.
