SAREE EMBELLISHED WITH VARIETY OF SPICES

Dontula Preethi (Born on 23rd February 1981), native of Hyderabad, Telangana, India. She has embellished a Saree with a variety of spices that are used in making Biryani, a South Indian recipe, they are like Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Pepper, etc. The Saree was made up of Lenin cotton which is 6 metres in length. The quantity of spices that were used to design this Saree are Nutmeg Flowers-437, Bay Leaf-13, Green Cardamom-144, Cloves-1351, Cinnamon stick- 42, Black pepper-49, Nutmeg-20, Kapok Buds-64, etc. The border made with Cinnamon and the pallu has Nutmeg, Pepper, Bay leaf, etc. This artwork was designed on 1st January 2019, at Hyderabad, and she took nearly 10 hours to complete it. As the saree was made up of spices it has a enchanting and refreshing fragrance. It is a novel attempt to create a Saree entirely beautified with spices, a tradition since ages. Preethi’s High Range Artistic, Creative approach in designing a Saree, which not only looks beautiful but also filled with aroma, has received many accolades.
